Once you choose a payroll service, it’s a pain to change so ask tough questions and don’t move too quickly to decide.

So just any sense within kind of the pays per control, how much of that would be potentially furloughed workers versus structural? I think the number one reason is really just structural in the sense that when you look at overall ADP, we have clients all the way from single employee all the way to very large national accounts. The PEO, at least in our case, the PEO tends to the average sized client, just from practical standpoint is 45 and we tend — we try to stay away from clients that are under 10 employees. We have some clients, obviously that are between five and 10 employees. But in general, the sweet spot of the PEO is kind of around 45, that’s the average.
Big companies don’t have much empathy for small companies. That’s why I personally opted not to use ADP as my payroll service at a certain point. It just didn’t seem like they gave a hoot about me and my business. To us, ADP’s biggest advantage is that they are used to working with big companies that have very complex payroll processing needs.

I think you do see some subtle differences in terms of company cultures and I think behavior. They screwed up my son’s payroll because they have not been paying his social security or medicaid for who knows how long. He gets direct deposit and never thought he had to check. Now most of his paycheck this week (2-week check) has been taken to back pay his ssi & medicaid. From what my son told me they haven’t been taking it out for a few years. I know he should have been checking but his tax man also dropped the ball when his W2 didn’t show any payments and he never brought it up. I would have seen all this but we don’t live together, since he’s married.
Through 9/11, we’ve been through wars, we’ve been through multiple changes in technology, nobody was even talking about SaaS when I joined ADP and every time we had a challenge, it looked like that was a challenge that we couldn’t overcome. Well, look, I think that some of this is philosophical. I think that I, like everyone else, when we were entering this phase, I was scared like everyone else is, not just personally for myself and my family, but also for the company and all of our associates and our clients that depend on us.
